I Went In to Build Someone and Ended Up Shopping

The plan was to train a character. I had the folder ready, six shots of the same face from different angles, the way every one of these tools asks for.

Then I opened the Marketplace and forgot the folder existed.

It reads like a casting board. Rows of faces somebody else trained, each with a name and a sample set underneath. I scrolled for about four minutes, which is longer than I have ever spent choosing anything on a site like this, and claimed one called Noor. Dark hair, freckles across the nose, the kind of detail that usually dissolves by the third render.

It did not dissolve. I shot eleven images that evening, kitchen, hallway, bedroom, three lighting setups, and the freckles landed in the same places every single time. No training, no waiting, folder never opened.

Studio is where it stops feeling like a toy. Character, image set and animation in one place instead of three tabs and an export between each. The editor does outfit swaps and inpainting and upscales to 4K, and face swaps come back clean, no watermark on stills or on clips.

Then I ran one of the eleven through motion cloning. Uploaded a four second reference, it cloned the movement, and when I hit play there was sound. Not a silent loop with a logo in the corner. Audio. I played it three times before I did anything else.

Now the parts that annoyed me. Two free edits is not a trial, it is a taste, and you hit the wall before you know if the thing suits you. Characters are rationed: one a month on the middle plan, so if your first pick is wrong you wait thirty days for another. Everything runs on credits, and the meter ticks while you are still learning the controls.

But Noor held across eleven frames and then moved with sound, on day one, and I have paid more for less.

The Two Cheap Plans Cannot Make Video

This is the thing to know before you read a single price. Lite at $19.99 and Basic at $49.99 do not generate video. Not slowly, not at lower quality. At all.

Basic adds video face swap, which sounds like the same thing and is not. A swap puts a face onto footage you already have. Generation makes the footage.

That starts at Pro. $79.99 a month, 250 credits, ten credits a clip, roughly nineteen clips at 720p by their own math. Elite is $139.99 for 400 credits and four characters a month. Lite gives 50 credits, about 25 edits. Basic gives 150.

So the honest entry price here is $79.99. Everything underneath it is an image tool with a swap bolted on the side.

That makes it one of the more expensive rooms on this site. Whether it earns the money comes down to one question: do you shoot video. For stills alone there are cheaper places and I have written about most of them. For a face you claim in four minutes and then animate with real audio, I have not found the same thing under eighty dollars.

One more thing, and I would rather say it than let you find out after paying. The name says CelebMaker. The terms say the opposite: documented consent for anyone real you depict, no intimate content of real people without it, and a written warning that public figures carry publicity rights. US company, California law, which is not a state that treats this loosely. The name is marketing that the product does not deliver, and you should read it that way.

I still build the prompt in my own free prompt generator first, get the structure right, then paste it in. Cheaper to iterate somewhere the meter is not running.
